The Giurgiu-Ruse bridge rehabilitation works have lasted almost as much as it took us to build it from scratch.
Construction work on this ambitious project started in 1952 and the bridge was inaugurated in the summer of 1954.
Under a contract endorsed by the National Road Management Authority, the modernization of the Giurgiu-Ruse will be completed in June 2016.
The contractor has promised, however, to open both lanes to traffic by November this year.
