The major investments in energy projects announced by the Chinese for Romania remained only declarative. National Journal presents a number of projects which have been postponed or canceled, and that could have made China a great investor in our country. The first, with an investment of 300 million euros, was the building an energy group at Halânga. The project failed, however, after the Nuclear State Company became insolvent.

Another project estimated at 6, 7 billion euros, which was scheduled for earlier this year, consists in starting the construction of reactors 3 and 4 at Cernavoda. It is still under discussion. The main reasons why Chinese companies in Romania are reluctant to invest have to do with the ambiguity and unpredictability of tax legislation, the journalists of National Journal say.
