Since last summer Romania allotted Moldova an overall funding of about 40 million, an impressive figure unprecedented in the relations between Chisinau and Bucharest, Moldovan Prime Minister Leanca quoted. He said he arrived at that amount after making Friday a mathematical calculation on the total funds channeled by the Government of Romanian to the Republic of Moldova last summer.
"I calculated and came to an impressive figure, around 40 million euros. It is a very striking figure in itself, unprecedented, nothing like this has ever appened before in the relationship between Chisinau and Bucharest," Leancă said.
Prime Minister Victor Ponta is on an official visit in Moldova, where, together with his Moldovan counterpart Iurie Leanca, he visited in Cahul, the location for the new office building of a theater and a kindergarten on which occasion the Romanian Government will donate the Chisinau Government 100 school buses and 35 Dacia Duster cars.
The kindergarten was also funded through the assistance provided by the Romanian Government for the modernization of the education system in Moldova.
The Government stated in a press release that the new visit of premier Ponta in the neighboring country is part of the Romanian Government's strategy to support the European course of the Republic of Moldova, through concrete projects to improve the quality of life of Moldovan citizens.
According to the Government in Bucharest, the agenda of the two prime ministers included, in addition to the stages of the various projects agreed during previous meetings, new cooperation projects and support for the implementation of the Association Agreement EU-Republic of Moldova (including the free trade) and the concrete support that Romania may grant throughout the process.
The latest developments related to the regional situation and reaching the energetic independence objective have also been d approached.
