Victor Ponta said that there were about 300 new Volkswagen cars with Euro 5 engines currently in the dealers stocks.
However, for those who have already been sold, Victor Ponta announced that the Romanian authorities will take action as soon as they receive information from Germany.
"I have spoken with the Minister of Transport a little earlier, there is an analysis, he would go out and communicate, the cars that are in stock and entering this internationally conducted survey obviously will not be sold. It's a number of 300 cars in stock, in Romania and they cannot be sold. Regarding those who have already been sold, all the data the Ministry of Transport is gathering together with the Ministry of Environment will be made available and, as we get the results from Germany, we can act on it, " Victor Ponta said.

Ponta thus replied when asked about the information according to which the Romanian Auto Registry (RAR) has stopped issuing identity cards to Volkswagen cars with Euro 5 engines.
