The ACL candidate in the presidential elections, Klaus Iohannis, won by nearly 90% the vote abroad in the runoff of the presidential elections, the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) informs.
Iohannis obtained 89.73% of the vote abroad, where on November 16 377,651 Romanians voted, thus winning the election in all the polling stations in the Diaspora, except for Palestine.

Klaus Iohannis won the elections in all the 294 polling stations held in the Diaspora, except for Palestine, where 19 Romanians and 10 of them have opted for Victor Ponta.
Also, over 90% of the voters voted for Klaus Iohannis in many countries, including Spain, Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Holland, Denmark.
Regarding the number of Romanians in the diaspora who came out to the polling stations, most of the voters were from Italy, where in the second round 96.600 Romanians showed up to vote. Out of these, 88.59% voted for Klaus Iohannis, and 11.40% for Victor Ponta.
In the second round, in the Romanian diaspora 377 651 voted and 338 873 of them (89.73%) voted for Klaus Iohannis and 38,778 (10.26%) voted for Victor Ponta, the final results released Thursday by BEC show.

In the both rounds of the presidential elections in several European capitals there were huge queues at the polling stations and thousands of people could not vote.
The problems encountered in the diaspora voting process have led to the resignation of Foreign Affairs Minister , Titus Corlăţean.
His replacement, Teodor Meleşcanu, also resigned two days from the second election round .He apologized to the Romanians in the diaspora who were unable to vote and argued that solutions must be found to ensure the proper condition so that the Romanians abroad should exercise their constitutional right wherever they may be abroad.
