Prosecutor Adina Petrescu ordered the criminal investigation of President Traian Basescu, after he was accused of extortion by lawmaker Gabriela Vrânceanu Firea. The case was suspended on grounds of presidential immunity. The information was presented Monday by Mihai Gadea, during the "Daily Summary" show.

In this case, they would not ask for the onset of the immunity lifting procedure.

The luju.ro website presented the ordinance whereby the initiation of criminal investigation procedure was ordered.

Present on the  "Daily Summary" show, Mugur Ciuvică commented on  Traian Băsescu’s statements, whereby he threatened  Gabriela Firea.

„He stated quite literally that he decides what the DNA does.  He conveyed Mrs. Firea  that if she were carful and played down the whole NANA business, he would leave her husband alone”,   Mugur Ciuvică explained.
