PSD’s executive chairman Liviu Dragnea has said Wednesday that the Liberal leader and ACL candidate for the Romanian Presidency, Klaus Iohannis is the "follower" of Traian Băsescu, indicating that the understanding between the two is that Iohannis would nominate Basescu PM if he becomes president.
"What those of the right are doing, I do not know. They nominated Iohannis now.Will it be Iohannis, will it not be? Will they continue to fight? From my point of view, Iohannis is follower of Traian Basescu. So whatever - I am not referring to the left and right – but we are talking about ourselves of us who want to end Basescu’s regime and present to Romania another country project, to have a different regime, a normal regime, in which you feel free and are able to perform, to enjoy living, and Iohannis, who wants to continue Basescu’s regime", Dragnea said on the RRA according to Medifax..
He said, however, that the Romanians who want to have Basescu leader for another ten years or even five, even if not directly, can vote for Iohannis.
"And, of course Iohannis wants to appoint prime minister Traian Băsescu. This seems to be the deal between them", Dragnea added.
He said that in exchange the PSD presidential candidate, Victor Ponta, will have a positive campaign during which he will present his country projects.
"We'll make a positive campaign, a campaign in which Victor Ponta will present his country project , he will present to all Romanians what he wants to do for this country, because his intention is not to run, to be president and add the president position to his resume. (...) Victor Ponta will try to talk to most of the Romanians. There will be election rallies, as many meetings large or small, so he can have a direct contact with as many Romanians from all walks of life and from all over the country ",Dragnea added.
