Former Minister of Agriculture Stelian Fuia has been sentenced to four years in prison for abuse of power.
However, Fuia can appeal the decision made by the Bucharest Court of Appeals.
Anti-corruption prosecutors started a criminal investigation against Stelian Fuia in 2014, when he was charged with abuse of power in a case built on the illegal sale of state-owned buildings, during the time when the former minister was general manager of the Fundulea Research Centre.
The public damage caused by Stelian Fuia amounts to more than 1.6 million lei.
