President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Victor Ponta spoke Monday at the presentation of the 2014 report activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Before them, the Minister Gabriel Oprea highlighted the last year’s facts that led to the rethinking of the entire national system of emergency management in order to increase potential action across the country.

"There were inventoried in each county all kinds of risks, according to the particularities of the region and all the intervention capabilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and of the other institutions of the national system of emergency management, but also of the private operators. Therefore, we have a clear view of all the forces and resources that can be mobilized in any area of the country, at any time, " Oprea said.


According to him, new temporary and permanent structures have been set up and operationalized, with support decision, the operational coordination platform COMITEL for Special Emergency Situations, the Operational Control Centre of the Government and the National Centre for Integrated Management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

The latter operates 24/7 and has special responsibilities in the management of special situations of public order and emergencies that may occur on the national territory. The effects of these changes were felt immediately after implementation, added Gabriel Oprea.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta asked the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to continue to focus on preventing and combating violence crimes, including in schools and public places, with immediate and extremely tough sanctions when such cases are recorded.

"Romania is a safe country, and for me - not only as Prime Minister, but as a citizen of this country - safety is by far a priority and the most important thing. I want to know that I can send my children to school safely, that our parents can be safe walking on the street, that we are safe in our homes and in the public places, " Ponta told to the representatives of the Ministry, at the institution’s annual report presentation.

He ensured that the Government will continue to provided modern equipment for the police, even in he is a politician and a "bad thing by definition".







President Klaus Iohannis expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the MIA workers to increase public safety and strengthen the feeling of security among citizens. "At the core of the Ministry’s activity and its components the idea that no one is above the law must be firmly placed," Iohannis added.


At the meeting for the assessment of the Ministry of Internal Affaisr activity participated the minister of Defence, Mircea Duşa, the head of SRI, Eduard Hellvig, and his deputy, Florian Coldea, the minister of justice, Robert Cazanciuc, the minister of Transport, Ioan Rus, the chief prosecutor of the National Anti-coruption Directorate, Codruţa Kovesi, sand the interim head of DIICOT, Giorgiana Hosu.
