Premier Victor Ponta stated Monday that he did not want the UDMR to leave the government  and that he talked both with the  UDMR leader , Kelemen Hunor, and the Foreign Affairs Minister, Titus Corlățean, to find a solution, AGERPRES informs.

"I have a very good relationship with the UDMR, there is nothing to reproach them. (...)I’ve discussed with both ministers, with Mr.  Kelemen and with Mr.  Corlățean, we will talk again Wednesday  when Kelemen Hunor gets back(...) and my intention  is to find any possible solution so that what we have accomplished  so far  — an extremely fair cooperation — should continue. But I repeat I also believe in this thing that  Titus Corlățean has expressed in terms less diplomatic, when we refer to coalition government matters, we can negotiate anything in the end. When it comes to matters of state , this cannot be negotiated, even if, I do not know, the Government should fall, in the end the Romanian state is the Romanian state, regardless of its government”, the PM stated during a show on  B1TV.

Asked if he had any anxieties in the Parliament should the  UDMR exit from  the Government, Ponta denied, but wanted to clarify that he did not want the Hungarians to leave the Executive.

"I am not afraid, because it is not a matter of parliamentary majority, but I do not wish it to  happen (the  UDMR’s leaving the government — editor’s note), the Premier said.

Ponta added that he was dissatisfied with the fact that the dialogue between the UDMR president , Kelemen Hunor, and the Foreign Affairs Minister, Titus Corlățean, "was carried out in public ".

" In general, the dialogue between two minister is carried out inside the coalition  or in the Government", Ponta said.

Romania supports the  Commission’s stance  on  the Citizens' Initiatives "Minority SafePack" , according  to which the  EU has no powers assigned   under the fundamental  Treaties provisions.

"The position expressed by Romania through the MFA is a consistent position of our state, a state issue and not a problem of somebody’s ego or pride. From this perspective, I appreciate, as Foreign Minister, that the expression of the Romanian state’s  position cannot  be subject to any negotiation or political compromise",  a press release the MFA  sent Saturday  to AGERPRES read, adding that Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean makes clarifications on Romania's position on the ongoing legal proceedings in  before the European Uniion Court on the topic of Citizens Initiatives  "Minority SafePack".

The position adopted by the Foreign Minister has been criticized by  UDMR leader, Kelemen Hunor.
