"PSD and PNL will break down by 2020. This happened all over Central and Eastern Europe, it will happen to us. They will break because the younger generation does not accept all the dirt that is happening now in the Romanian political life, "said Alin Teodorescu, in a special edition of the show "On Today’s Agenda ".
"It is predictable, that in the next term we should get to the emergence of new parties led by the generation aged 30-40, the generation during the revolution was barely born. There is nothing to do with the current parties. They have been all in government, the people who run them are worn out, the public does not trust them anymore, the system does not respond to their orders, " the well-known sociologist added.
Alin Teodorescu explained that what will happen is a normal process that has taken place in each country ruled by a dictatorship.
“Immediately after the dictatorship, people go into political parties, naturally. There are hundreds of political parties coming up. This happened in Spain after Franco, in Portugal after Salazar, in the Soviet Union after Gorbachev, in Romania after Ceausescu and in Iraq after Saddam Hussein. In the first phase, there are 200-300 of political parties, and a generation later there are only 5-6 left competing with each other. This is the second phase. The third phase is the one in which there appear new parties. We're not there yet, but other countries in Central and Eastern Europe went through this phase, including Poland and Hungary, " Alin Teodorescu said.
The new parties will be created by "the younger generation. The current leaders will not be leaders in the new parties. They will be led by young people who now have no chance in politics”, under the circumstances where for four years, we have had no political leader stay at 40% degree of confidence for a longer period ".
Also, Alin Teodorescu warns that it is possible that "some political leaders will go to the DNA" and believes that the current younger generation in politics, led by Victor Ponta, has a chance to stand up only "if they understand what the public wants and if they are truly honest in government. "
