Former Prime Minister Emil Boc announced on Tuesday that he will support Elena Udrea in the presidential elections, because she is "a formidable opponent, pugnacious and harsh against the PSD and Victor Ponta", and also because she has never hesitated to defend and believe in the Romanian state’s reform and modernization, a project initiated by Traian Băsescu.

"I will support Elena Udrea in the presidential election because she is a formidable opponent, pugnacious and harsh against the PSD and Victor Ponta. I support her also because she has never hesitated to defend and believe in the reform and modernization project of the Romanian state that I started together with the President of Romania Traian Basescu. Finally, Elena Udrea was one of the best performing ministers that I had in the Government and demonstrated efficiency and pragmatism", Boc said.

Elena Udrea is the PMP candidate in the presidential elections, the PMP representatives decided Tuesday during the PMP National College meeting, the only vote against her candidacy came from MEP Cristian Preda.

Udrea said after the meeting that her campaign will be managed by Eugen Tomac and Wednesday they will begin collecting signatures.

She also said that she was the only one to outrun Victor Ponta in the race for the Presidential Palace.

Moreover, Preda called for the resignation of Elena Udrea from her leadership position in the PMP.
