Retired officer of SRI, Radu Adrian, said in an interview that at this moment SRI works close with DNA, but they have no legal grounds for it.

The SRI operation law does not provide corruption actions and the defendants could challenge the DNA investigations in court for a procedure fault because the SRI has been involved in obtaining the arrest warrants.

George Maior has admitted that SRI does not have powers granted by law related to corruption but argues that there is a CSAT decision care stating that corruption is a threat against national security.

However, a CSAT decision does not replace the law.

George Maior stated: “Corruption is defined in a CSAT decision as a threat to national security. All these things make corruption occupy an important part of the service activity. When you collect intelligence corruption it would be illegal not to pass it on. There are departments within the Service with that mission. Sometimes prosecution offices ask for our support in this regard. Further, this information is processed by the Prosecution that are independent in this regard. The service’s mission is strictly related to intelligence, nothing else. It does not prosecute cases. It was a discussion that service should have an executive capacity, but it was not approved. DNA and SRI are two separate institutions collaborating strictly within the law. "

Traian Băsescu, spoke of justice and controversies about the latest changes to the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Also, starting from the statement by SRI general Dumitru Dumbravă, head of the Legal Department of the Romanian Intelligence Service, whereby he specified that the service follows a case file up to the final judgment in court, Basescu said the following:

"I am using here the statement of the Legal Department within the SRI, who said that after they forward the briefings, they follow such a process up to completion. How do you follow it up sitting in the SRI headquarters? No. Strictly speaking, there is a contact with the judge, with the prosecutor, former President Traian Basescu said in an interview.

In today's edition of the "Subjective with Razvan Dumitrescu" show along with guests Mădălin Voicu, PSD deputy, Ioan Ghişe, senator, Claudiu Saftoiu, Liberal, Ilie Şerbănescu, economic analyst they debated extensively on this topic and how the former President Traian Basescu apparently prepared his defense.
