The  President’s suspension is back on the agenda. The idea belongs to Călin Popescu Tariceanu. The Senate chief asked politicians to take action after Basescu violated the Constitution again after campaigning for Elena Udrea.

Victor Ponta believes that Traian Băsescu’s  suspension from the office of  president is not a priority at this time. Ponta said, however, that, in principle, both he and the other PSD leaders agree to  this approach.

Călin Popescu Tăriceanu accuses Traian Băsescu of having breached the Constitution when he asked the  PMP leaders over at the  Cotroceni Palace, for political debates  and particularly when he campaigned for  Elena Udrea.

Tariceanu argues that although he is the one who should provide the interim at the  Cotroceni Palace, in case  Basescu is suspended, he will not fulfill  this task, but he  will appoint the  President of the Chamber of Deputies, Valeriu Zgonea to replace him.

Victor Ponta does not rule out the idea of having the president suspended either if he continues to  act as the elections campaign chief of  Elena  Udrea.

Deputy PM  Liviu Dragnea argues that there is no time left for a new suspension procedure.

Elena Udrea and a PMP leaders group met this week at Cotroceni with the  President to discuss  the presidential campaign. After the meeting, the president said he definitely supported the nomination of Elena Udrea in the elections for presidency.
