Victor Ponta believes that Traian Băsescu’s suspension from the office of president is not a priority at this time. Ponta said, however, that, in principle, both he and the other PSD leaders agree to this approach.
Călin Popescu Tăriceanu accuses Traian Băsescu of having breached the Constitution when he asked the PMP leaders over at the Cotroceni Palace, for political debates and particularly when he campaigned for Elena Udrea.
Tariceanu argues that although he is the one who should provide the interim at the Cotroceni Palace, in case Basescu is suspended, he will not fulfill this task, but he will appoint the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Valeriu Zgonea to replace him.
Victor Ponta does not rule out the idea of having the president suspended either if he continues to act as the elections campaign chief of Elena Udrea.

Elena Udrea and a PMP leaders group met this week at Cotroceni with the President to discuss the presidential campaign. After the meeting, the president said he definitely supported the nomination of Elena Udrea in the elections for presidency.
