USL seems to have found the solution to the crisis settlement in the Union. PSD president, Victor Ponta, announced Monday that there will be negotiations within the Union and that the USL agreement protocol is to be updated. 

‘We will have to put together a negotiations team, to discuss the protocol, to update it. New circumstances have arisen and I believe we need to have a discussion with our colleagues, the Liberals after this tense moment ’. 


The USL co-president wanted to emphasize that the misunderstandings occurred only with the PNL , ‘with PC and UNPR there have not been any issues so far’.

However, Ponta specified that none of his party members would not respond to allegations, should they occur, as not to make the situation any worse. "We are very solidary ," the head of the Social Democrats said.

Ponta: The USL protocol is suspended 

Previously, the PSD leader, PM Victor Ponta said that for the future, the Liberals have to prove by their actions that they are solidary in government with the PSD, arguing that the decision to be solidary with the PSD should be a sincere one , considering that the USL protocol hasn’t been observed, being suspended.

‘I have received assurances, but they also have to be enforced, because the protocol also stipulated that nothing would happen, and there it happened and they got away with it. Therefore, from now on actions are important, not statements. We are moving forward, but until the protocol is re-instated that would mean it is practically, how should I put it, suspended, right? ’, Ponsta stated.


Asked what would be the guarantees he requested from the PNL, Ponta replied: “An official commitment, but …. We also have provided in writing at article 1.1.4, that attacks aren’t allowed and sanctions would apply, which it did not apply. Therefore the agreement has not been enforced, I do not know what guarantees, because all the writing and the statements .. It has worked so far. I believe we are dealing here with an actual and honest decision of our PNL colleagues to be solidaryi n going on alongside us”. 


Ponta stated that the PNL has to prove by their actions that they are solidary to the PSD and pointed out that Stanescu expulsion from the PNL did not represent a guarantee for the PSD.
