For the internal elections 414,917 party members were consulted who cast their votes. Thus, out of the 414,917 members consulted, 414,667 voted "for", 68 voted "against" and 182 abstained. The PSD Extraordinary Congress was held in Alba Iulia.
"I’ve been wearing the prime minister shirt so far, now I am putting on the president jacket. It is not only a project of mine, it is a project for the country. I am honored by your trust in me. I am proud to be Romanian, I am proud to be from the PSD, I want nothing more than that you too be proud of me", Victor Ponta said.
The PSD candidate in the presidential elections has also spoken about his program, and the "pillars" thereof.
"I strongly believe in two things. That Romania needs to change everything that has been bad. And I want us to celebrate together the great unification after ten years of disunion. This is the main purpose of the candidate Victor Viorel Ponta" the PSD leader added.
