Prime Minister Victor Ponta has said that it is not necessary for the future prime minister to be from the PSD, but that he must be a pro-European and a man you can work with, Mediafax informs.

"The important thing is to be a prime minister who would continue the current program, he must be someone endorsed by the PSD, but also by the PC and the UNPR, of the PLR if they come into power, of the UDMR", Ponta said.

The Prime minister said that he had talks with the Social Democrats about this during the CExN meeting in Orăştie, but also during the informal meeting held in Tulcea.

"There is this agreement that in the event that we win the Presidency, the Prime Minister should not necessary be from the PSD", Ponta said.

"I know the PSD very well, I do not think they must have it all. It is important that the next prime minister should have the support of the whole coalition, not just of the PSD, to be a pro-European, a convinced pro-Atlantic, yet able to manage the government with which I could work ", Ponta said.

"There is just one name that I will turn down: Traian Băsescu. I will not appoint him prime minister ", Ponta said.
