Prime Minister Victor Ponta, invited to the Monday's edition of the "Daily Summary" show, said the relationship he has with President Klaus Iohannis is one of respect.
"I was Mr. Iohannes’s competitor in the November competition. I have a huge debt and gratitude to the 5, 3 million people who made an extraordinary gesture and trusted me that I could be president. I have the exact same respect for the over 6 million Romanians who voted for Klaus Iohannis, because they probably like Klaus Iohannis or because they wanted to sanction me for different things ", the PSD leader stated.
"I represent those who voted me and, equally, those who did not vote for ", the Prime Minister added.
Asked how he would assess Klaus Iohannis as president, Victor Ponta avoided to give a precise answer and said "Mr. Iohannis has behaved like a president who does not caress the Prime Minister on the head nor orders him around.”
"I want to see a President who does not act as the head of the Government, head of the prosecutors, the leader of the press, but a president who fulfills the duties provided in the Constitution and for which people voted him," Ponta said.
"People voted me and Iohannis to do our jobs", he added.
