Former adviser to president Basescu promised that he would use his influence with the decision makers in government, for the preferential allocation of funds to certain companies, says the motivation of the Bacau Court of Appeal in their arrest decision of Gabriel Berca.

Former minister of internal affairs Gabriel Berca was arrested Friday by the decision of the Court of Appeal, the ruling is not final .
Judges argue that Gabriel Berka had promised that he could help so that the money would get to the town hall so that the works performed by the company of Viorel Rusu be paid. It is a contract of 5.6 million lei, money that was to go to the mayoralty.

Also Berca allegedly admitted he had some meetings where such discussions took place, judges say.

It is about facts which allegedly have been committed between 2010-2012, when, Gabriel Berca through Mihai Banu, had asked and received 180,000 euros to help finance the City Hall.
The judges argue in their reasoning that there are serious indications for Gabriel Berca to be arrested.
Moreover, he has been placed in custody for 30 days and a court hearing is about to be scheduled.
"The rights and freedoms judge has found enough evidence indicating a reasonable suspicion of the fact that Gabriel Berca committed the crime of influence peddling consisting in that he promised the denouncer witness, both directly in public meetings that he admitted to, as well as through Banu Mihai, that he will use his influence with decision makers of the Romanian Government for the allocation of the necessary amounts to pay the value of the works performed by the denouncer’s company at the Ardeoani School "reads the court's reasoning.

Gabriel Berca, former presidential adviser and former Minister of Interior has been arrested for influence pedaling after he allegedly received 180,000 euros from a businessman to intervene with members of the Government to allocate money to a municipality, was arrested Friday .

Radu Tudor: State institutions find out only now what Antena 3 said seven years ago

Political analyst Radu Tudor said after hearing the news, that it is unpleasant for state institutions to find out these things after Antena 3 revealed them seven years ago and the former President Traian Basescu and his regime cannot be touched by anyone.

"What surprises unpleasantly is that these authorities and prosecutors find out these things seven years after Antena 3 has said the same things for many years. We have been accused, threatened by Traian Basescu and there, not a day goes by praise the Lord that what Antena 3 said is proven, "said journalist Radu Tudor on Monday in a telephone intervention on Antena 3.

The political analyst is disappointed that the former president is not called in for hearings.

"This whole story is being coordinated by Băsescu Traian, but after so many years these accusations do not touch Traian Băsescu. (...) DNA does not inquire Emil Boc about anything, it does not call in Traian Băsescu for hearings", added Radu Tudor.
