Americans want to invest 169 million dollars in the Deveselu military base which must be functional as of this year. In the context of new threats from Russia, our country has got an increasingly more important role within NATO. Today marks 11 years since Romania officially joined the North Atlantic Alliance.
Frank A. Rose said that for the 2016 fiscal year, the Obama administration has requested in the newly released budget an allocation of $ 8 billion for the entire military missile defense program. In this framework, to finance the works at the Deveselu based missile defense they allocated $ 169 million for construction.
Romania celebrates today 11 years since it joined NATO. The moment is celebrated by military ceremonies in all major military units. In Bucharest, a ceremony at the Ministry of Defense is held, which has organized an Open Day. The public will have access in the institution until 13:00 and can assist the weaponry handling demonstration executed by the military in the "Michael the Brave" Guard Regiment. Also, an exhibition of military equipment is held in the courtyard.
Building the American shield was accelerated in the context of the security issues generated by Russia last year.
