One of the best known Romanian brands is one step away from extinction. Plafar, once known as the Romanians unofficial doctor, is struggling to keep its head above water.
In 2007, the state assigned the Plafar brand to a private pharmacy network for a small fee and almost all sites were closed. The company went through a period of insolvency, during which it lost several of its assets to be able to pay off its debts.
This Romanian brand’s fate was doomed by the smart boys and girls who knew how to make money from destroying a Romanian symbol.
