The Romanian soldier who was named "Hero of the Day” after discovering on February 22 an improvised explosive device in the vicinity of the Kandahar Airport, received Thursday the Emblem of Honor of the Romanian Army for war bravery from the Minister of Defense, Mircea Dusa, Agerpres informs.

Adrian Ionuţ Văduva was on a mission in Afghanistan, and he was named "Hero of the day" by the ISAF South Regional Command after having discovered an improvised explosive device in the area where his comrades were patrolling.

Văduva is a soldier with the “Red Scorpios” and he is in charge along with his colleagues of the security mission at the Kandahar airport.

Corporal Adrian Ionut Văduva is 29 years old, unmarried and a professional soldier since 2005. On December 1, 2013 he started his fourth mission in Afghanistan.

The soldier was decorated in 2009 by the Romanian President with the medal "Manhood and Faith" - Grade III, for the actions undertaken in Afghanistan to repel an insurgent attack and for providing first aid to injured colleagues in the same attack.

Several soldiers of the 26th Infantry Battalion " Neagoe Basarab " from Craiova, known as the "Red Scorpions" left at the end of last year in their last mission in Afghanistan with the objective to ensure Kandahar airport security.
