Adriean Videanu, Dorin and Alin Cocoş, Alina Bica and her former adviser Florentin Mihăilescu were arrested Saturday as the High Court of Cassation and Justice had ordered. The decision was taken in the disjoint case of unlawful compensations from ANRP which Alina Bica is charged of, and this decision is not final, it may be appealed before the same court.
Videanu, Alin Cocos and Mihailescu to be imprisoned, while Dorin Cocos and Alina Bica are already in custody for two other cases - the Microsoft case and the case of the illegal compensations granting for the overstated land.
In the case disjoint from that of the illegal compensations granting, Bica is prosecuted for bribery (two counts), abuse of office if the official has obtained for herself or for another person an undue benefit (two counts) and facilitating the perpetrator.
In the same case, businessman Dorin Cocos is prosecuted for influence peddling and bribery, his son Alin Cocos is being investigated for bribery and influence peddling, Videanu, for complicity to office abuse and Florentin Mihailescu for complicity to bribery, according to Mediafax.
On December 15, 2014, Alina Bica was prosecuted because, as a representative of the Ministry of Justice to the National Authority for Property Restitution, together with other members of the Central Commission for Compensations, would have approved for businessman Gheorghe Stelian in 2011 the granting of compensations for a plot of land of 13 hectares overstated by more than 62 million.
According to prosecutors, in January 2011-2012, Dorin Cocos promised, requested and received from the beneficiary of the legal disputes rights a total of 16 million euro, in installments, in exchange for his influence over two members of the Central Committee of ANRP: Alina Bica and Sergiu Diacomatu and to ensure the compensation settlement of two cases, one in which the value of a plot of land over 13 acres was set at EUR 377,282,300 lei.
To speed up the compensation case settlement, Cocoş gave Alina Bica a share of a land located in Snagov, Ilfov County, an area of 4,425 square meters, according to prosecutors.
However, the beneficiary of the rights in question, motivated by the huge value of the amount that he would receive, accepted Alin Cocos request to assign 25% of the compensation rights to three people indicated by him in return for supporting his case before the Central Compensation Commission.
Florentin Mihăilescu, a close friend of Alin Cocoş,is said to have gotten involved in the case and he meddled the contact with Bica, to help provide a favorable settlement of the case, prosecutors argues.
