He started with an ice cream factory, switched to one of yogurt and then went into business with chicken. He bankrupted them all. The last company on Mircea Basescu businessman’s blacklist is Fattoria Terrantai SRL. The company he took over in 2010 after a suspicious transaction, a chicken factory in a free zone of Constanta with a turnover exceeding 12 million lei .
It was estimated back then that the transaction’s value was nearly one million euros, which means a huge amount for a company that became insolvent after only three years after the takeover.
Specifically, in January 2014, Fattoria Terrantai SRL asked for the declaration of insolvency, being in default. The Company registered in 2013 a loss of almost of 1.77 million lei and liabilities of about 10 million lei. The company’s administrator is Mircea Basescu, while the main shareholder is the company MB Consult Company Ltd – meaning Mircea Basescu and his two children. With the insolvency of Fattoria Terrantai Ltd emerged and fishy network behind this business. The dubious links were exposed to the public during the Sequential show presented by Adrian Ursu.
But the state was not the only one to share in the creditors settlement, but Mircea Basescu too, who had loaned the company he nearly bankrupted with 400,000 euro and $ 10,000. Another creditor is the company Global Business & Investments, the stakeholder of that company is the son of Mircea Basescu. And it is not the only situation of the kind.
Over time, several official documents show that hundreds of thousands of dollars were passed between companies controlled directly or through intermediate by Mircea Basescu under the disguise of loans.
The loans were secured by the company Fattoria Eximbank, ie state bank. Eximbank credit guaranteed with quite a high amount the company of Mircea Basescu which he accessed via another financial institution. The State Bank did not take into account that it guaranteed a society full of debt and that it has already loaned one million to.
The guarantee approved in 2001 when the leadership of the Interministerial Committee for Financing, Warranties and Insurance of Eximbank was none other than Bogdan Dragoi, current advisor to the president. Equally controversial are the Vice-Presidents and the committee members: Sorin Blejnar, former head of NAFA, Adrian Radulescu or Claudiu Stafie.
According to specialists in the fiscal domain, the case of Fattoria Terrantai SRL could be considered a classic case of money laundering. Dirty money obtained from illegal transactions were entered into a legal business as a loan and then they circled the money through the company’s accounts. He was going to obtain it later by legal documents by opening the insolvency proceedings and registering on the list of creditors.
Antena 3 has started a campaign showing the ins and outs of some of the biggest such cases of money laundering involving big names.
