Antenna 3 and the Romanian Embassy in Montenegro organized an event to commemorate the victims of the bus accident last year, on the very spot where the tragedy occurred.

Almost 50 Romanians went through a life threatening experience on June 23 last year. The bus in which they travelled collapsed into a precipice of 70 meters deep.

For 19 of them it was the end of their lives.

July 23, 2013. Podgorica, Montenegro. It was supposed to be the second day of a dream like vacation. Only that for 47 Romanians it turned into a day of mourning and suffering.

At 5:40 p.m., the bus driver lost control of the car in a curve, skidded, broke the bulwark and fell over 40 feet into a ravine. 15 people die on the spot. 32 arrive at the hospital.

Other three of the survivors have lost the battle with death in a hospital in Podgorica. Montenegrin Doctors struggled to save the other 29 of which almost half were admitted to the ICU.

Hundreds of locals have made a huge queue at the door of the hospital to donate blood.

Two days later, all the Romanians were taken by a military aircraft and crew from SMURD and brought into the country, a mission led by Raed Arafat.

After nearly seven months there came the result of the investigation. Montenegrin prosecutors concluded that the driver was to blame because he had exceeded the speed limit, ie 80 km / h on a stretch of road where the maximum speed was only 40 km / hour. For the accident in Montenegro over 4 million euros were paid in compensations.
