"We are not witnessing an act of justice, unfortunately, but a political confrontation behind closed doors (...). I do not think that we can speak of an act of justice, regardless of the verdict which would be ruled now. On the contrary, I believe that this political process seriously damages Romania's presidential elections campaign, " Bogdan Chireac said Monday evening at Antena 3.
According to him, "taking into account the excessive politicization of the process, the judges should defer the trial until after the presidential elections campaign.
"Now, if they rule a verdict against Dan Voiculescu, it will be said that Basescu finally removed his most important political opponent," the analyst said.
"We have witnessed a political execution," Chirieac concluded.
