Four year old Ştefan is the first child with a rare disease to have undergone revolutionary surgery in Romania. Doctors from the Gastroenterology Institute in Cluj performed an esophageal resection so as to allow food to reach his stomach.
In October last year, Ştefan had feeding tubes surgically implanted into his stomach.
Ştefan's smile is a good indication of successful surgery to doctors. At only four years of age, he's the first child in Romania to have undergone an operation that was possible.
