Gâdea demonstrated that according to the ASF report, the chairman of ASTRA Insurance, Dan Adamescu, kept alive the Free Romania newspaper , with fabulous loans. The last three years alone, around 22 million Euros were pumped in the publication’s operations.
The Financial Monitoring Authority (ASF) revealed irregularities in the management of funds, the chairman of the authority Dan Ruşanu stated that a former head of the Insurance Surveillance Commission (CSA), protected Dan Adamescu’s company and that over the last five years, there were not many inspections conducted at ASTRA.
According to the statements of the ASF chairman, the intra-group loans represented for the ASTA insurance company 110 million lei out of the nearly 102 million, therefore more than 90%, were transferred to the Media Holding company, known by the name of România Liberă - Free Romania
"In the case of a major event, ASTRA will not be able to honour its obligations," Dan Radu Ruşanu said.
