President Traian Băsescu has revealed that among the pardons he granted this year, there are also two drug dealers. The head of state said he took pity on them, because they were young students.
"I have pardoned two students from Timişoara, convicted for drug use and who besides what they were using ... ... they were both in the car were 2 or 3 packages were found in their car compartment and they got 6-7 years to serve in jail. I felt sorry for them. They were in the 2nd or 3rd year of college "Basescu said.
The cases were commented by general Pavel Abraham, who underlined that the issue of pardon has been politically transposed and that dangerous precedents could be created.
"I regret that the issue of pardon granting has been politically transposed , given that in many cases we can address that in political terms. But, as demonstrated in our country and abroad, pardons with larger degree of generality are made and this is normal. It becomes serious when, along with the serious problems of poverty, of course, dangerous situations are created such as these ones. "
