The family and its values must be defended, and Parliament has a duty to defend the traditional family. If the Romanian legislature approves the marriage between people of the same sex, the civil society will have to give a firm reply, Dan Voiculescu writes on his personal blog.
On his blog, Professor Dan Voiculescu warns over the danger the family is in, with the introduction in Parliament of the debate on the civil partnership bill, initiated by the MP Remus Cernea.

"As a father, as a grandfather, as a Romanian, I believe in the traditional family role – a functional institution for thousands of years. But we have seen that a gentleman deputy, Remus Cernea, requires tolerance for sexual minorities," Dan Voiculescu wrote on his personal blog.
Dan Voiculescu argues that if Parliament approves same-sex marriage, civil society should react to defend the fundamental values.

"What I do not understand is why sexual minorities want to necessarily get married. Why can they not live together without papers? I think we've gone too far with this tolerance. Parliament has a duty to defend the traditional family - without forgetting that the state has, by law, the obligation to protect the institution ensuring the future through children. But if the Romanian Parliament approves marriage between persons of the same sex, I think civil society will have to give a firm reply, " Dan Voiculescu continued.
Voiculescu notes that Romania must first follow the good examples of European countries.

Humanists, all who believe in the fundamental human values, whether Orthodox or Catholic Christians anyway, will resort to all legal manifestations to avoid this shame for the Romanian people.
PS. We want to be like them, respectively the rich Europe. Very good! But let’s first reach their standard of living and then see, "continued Dan Voiculescu.

The bill of the civil partnership was rejected this week by the Legal Commission of the Chamber of Deputies. The Church representatives attacked the Parliaments’ attempt to allow same-sex marriage, saying it is an attempt to undermine the traditional family.
