Dan Voiculescu won the legal suit which Paraschiva Silaghi had filed against him almost two years ago. Silaghi claimed that Dan Voiculescu had allegedly given informative notes about her and claimed moral damages worth 21 million euros.
The judges ruled in favor of Dan Voiculescu, showing that the complaint against him was unfounded.
For years, Paraschiva Silaghi argued in her testimony given before NCSSA, but also before a notary public that she did not suffer any damages, after she had left to Germany in 1973.
"In 2006, (...) I was surprised to find out that an institution - NCSSA - charged my cousin, Dan Voiculescu, the fact that a year after our departure he was forced to make a statement at the company he was working about relatives abroad. I know the rules of the dictatorial political regime was forcing employees to give such statements at work and I have not felt any effects of this statement. Voiculescu's conduct did not hinder in any way our settlement in Germany.
I stated before the NCSSA members clearly and forcefully that the charges against Dan Voiculescu in that he violated human rights were illogical, unreasonable, unsustainable "- was the notarized statement given by Paraschiva Silaghi.
Subsequently, Paraschiva Silaghi changed her mind. She argued that Dan Voiculescu would have given informative notes about her.
Consequently, she claimed damages worth 21 million euros. The judges decided that the complaint was unfounded, however, and they ruled in favor of Dan Voiculescu.
