Devastating revelations were made today for Mircea Băsescu before the judges by the middleman who eased the handing of the bribe to the president's brother. Marian Căpăţână said that Mircea Basescu consulted and informed Traian Basescu that the Anghel family asked for their money back
Căpăţână said that the Bercea family paid an overall amount of 600,000 euros, and that with it he also handed Mircea Băsescu Bercea’s file from Slatina which he was supposed to give for "study". Căpăţână also said that the son of Bercea Mondial received from Mircea Băsescu a bag with 300,000 euros.
Marian Căpăţână told the magistrates that he received $ 100,000 for his services in two installments. In fact, the money reached Mircea Băsescu also in two installments. The first installment amounted to 200,000 euros: They kept the money in their lap in 500 euros banknote. They had their skirts and the money in the pocket. They asked Mircea: do I leave your money here? Mircea said: no, you are going and giving it to Marian. We went to an apartment in the Delfinariu area. He kept four stacks of 100 pieces of 500 euros banknotes, amounting to 200.000. He gave me the amount of 50.000 euros”.
In April 2011there came the second installment of money for Mircea Băsescu, this time much higher. Moreover, Marian Căpăţână told judges that in total, the president's brother had to receive one million euros, money needed for Bercea Mondial to escape conviction: "The family came to the office with money. They went to the same apartment and counted the 350,000 euros. There was a lady present from Raiffeisen Bank, with a checking device. She was called by Mircea, who feared that the money might be counterfeit. I gave Basescu the money and I also received 50,000 euros. The next day, the Bercea family went to Mircea Băsescu’S office to be convinced that the money had been given to him."
According to the middleman who helped remit the bribe, the president’s brother gave Calafus Bercea Mondial’s file and promised he would receive a favorable sentence. But this did not happen: "After Bercea’s conviction, Florin began to have a hostile attitude and criticized Mircea that he failed to help his father. Mircea Basescu told him: Boy, you know that I did everything I could, but even if this is resolved or not resolve, you will not see the money back ".

Despite the statements by Mircea Băsescu, Marian Căpăţână supported his version: the money was a bribe from Bercea Modial’s family for Mircea Băsescu.
