Supreme Court magistrates are reviewing today the penalty annulment request received by doctor Serban Brădişteanu

The Head of Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic at Floreasca Hospital was sentenced to one year probation for aiding and abetting.

The doctor unreasonably prolonged the hospitalization of Adrian Nastase after his suicide attempt, prosecutors say.

Moreover, investigators say, doctor Brădişteanu assumed responsibility for the admission of Adrian Nastase in the section he was heading, although the medical diagnosis did not require the patient’s hospitalization in that clinic.

Cardiologist Serban Brădişteanu was sentenced to one year probation for aiding and abetting Nastase. The doctor was accused by prosecutors that he unjustifiably prolonged Nastase hospitalization at the Floreasca Hospital after the suicide attempt in June 2012 of the former prime minister and sentenced to serve two years in prison in Quality Trophy case. DNA also argued that Nastase had a neck wound that did not involve his admission in the department of cardiovascular surgery at Floreasca Hospital.

Adrian Nastase was admitted in the Floreasca Hospital from 20 to 26 June 2012, when he was taken to the Rahova hospital prison after the Bucharest Court determined that the hospitalization did not prevent the implementation of the sentence given.

On March 18, 2013, Nastase was released from prison after the Bucharest Court upheld the application of parole.

On January 6, 2014, Adrian Nastase was again imprisoned after being convicted to serve four years in prison in the "Zambaccian" case. On August 21, 2014, Adrian Nastase was released on parole after serving a third of the sentence.
