Eight Romanian soldiers died in an aviation tragedy in Sibiu

The Defense Ministry announced on Friday afternoon, the identity of the ten victims of  the plane crashed in Sibiu, they are  military  staff aged between 25 and 47 years.

In a press release, MND states that  the eight soldiers who died in the plane crash are Commander Artur-Grigore Palfi, 46 years old, married, one child, medical doctor captain Rares -Cosmin Moldovan, 34 years old, married, one  child, captain Răzvan-Aurel Moldovan R, 29 years old, married, second lieutenant Andrei-Catalin Apostol, aged 25, unmarried, warrant officer,  Paul Badescu, 41 years old, unmarried, warrant officer,  Dorin Fodor, 43 years old, married, two children, warrant officer Vasile-Marian Gadalean, 33 years old, married, father of a child, and warrant officer Constantin-Dorin Filip, 30 years old, unmarried.
    
 The two wounded soldiers are Captain Commander-Gabriel Cornelius Titiana, aged 47, and warrant officer Valentin Bora, aged 41 years.


"The Ministry of Defense expresses deep regret for the loss of  the military’s  lives and share in the pain of the  grieving families. Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, is kept informed of developments in the health status of two the wounded soldiers," Defense Ministry representatives say.

Eight soldiers died and two others were injured in the crash of a military helicopter IAR-330 Puma Friday at around 10.40 in the village Malancrav, Sibiu County. The area is extremely rugged, where only jeeps and tractors can get.


According to the Ministry Of National Defense, the helicopter belonged to the 71st Air Base Campia Turzii , it was on a mission and was supposed to participate in an exercise in the  Cincu Polygon.

The two injured were taken to the ER Emergency County Hospital in Targu Mures, one with a  SMURD helicopter and the other by ambulance. Doctors have determined that, because they have burns on 40% of their body surface, they should be transferred by plane to the  Burns Hospital in Bucharest.
