The President's family links with criminals exceed the limits of imagination. The youngest daughter of president Traian Basescu, Elena Basescu, sold in May a luxury apartment to a businesswoman in Galati investigated by prosecutors for fraud and forgery.

The buyer’s husband was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for having damaged the Romanian state with 1.1 million lei.

After the sale, Elena Basescu and Bogdan Ionescu do not own a home anymore.

The extensions of the criminal network around the Băsescu family reach the youngest daughter, Elena Băsescu. Two months ago, she sold an apartment in a fancy neighborhood in Bucharest for 160 000 euros. The house belonged to her husband, Bogdan Ionescu. Nothing wrong so far.

According to her statement of assets, the house was purchased by a business woman who according to Galati local media is being prosecuted in a file opened in 2002. Ramona Oţelea is accused of fraud and forgery and her husband was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for fraud .

The two damaged the County Agency for Employment Galati with 1.1 million lei. The Social Trade company which the Oteleas established concluded a contract with the County Agency for Labor Force Employment in 2002 with the stated purpose of providing information , professional counseling and employment mediation.

But the costs for transportation, rent, supplies and personal expenses were reimbursed on false supporting documents..

All this information is public, so it's hard to believe that Elena Basescu did not know whom she was selling to. The fact is that after the sale, she and her husband no longer own a home.

Elena Basescu’s declaration of assets submitted at the end of her term as MEP does not feature any penthouse received as a wedding gift from her father in law, Bebe Ionescu.

This year, the president's daughter has bought a new car, a Mercedes Benz manufactured in 2013 and sold her old car, the famous Range Rover she would always park in the wrong parking spot, for 21,500 euros.

Last year, Elena Basescu and her husband started spending from the money they got at their wedding. They have spent 150.000 euros from the overall 450.000 euro, which is somehow reasonable if we consider her husband modest earnings. As a director of his own company, Bogdan Ionescu earns a salary of only 1370 lei per month.

Despite the hardships, Elena Basescu saved up last year over 30 thousand dollars. Easy, you might say, since the MEP won 170 000 euros during her four years term. The question still remains unanswered. Where does the president's daughter and her poor husband live?
