The European Commission needs a guarantee of stability; therefore, it is important that Romania's Transportation Master Plan gets the support of all political forces and of the whole society, European Commissioner for Regional Policies Corina Cretu said on Wednesday in a press conference in Cluj-Napoca.
"I wish to salute the fact that the Ministry of Transport has submitted this document to a public debate, because this debate — possibly in the Romanian Parliament and in its committees — offers us this guarantee of stability, which is very important to the European Commission," Cretu declared.
She mentioned several other conditions set by the Commission to finance the projects under the master plan.
"We're also talking about a reform of public procurement, about the implementation of the new directives. From our point of view, we are on the right track. The modernization and the reforming of the local public administration is a very important topic. We have several conditions, also related to the social infrastructure. (...) We encourage a larger debate within the Government, among the relevant ministers, for the correlation of these European funds," Cretu said.
