Former mayor of Ploieşti, Iulian Bădescu, has been indicted on 12 counts of corruption.
The former elected official, currently in custody, is accused of abuse of office, bribery, nepotism and performing financial transactions as trade acts incompatible with his position.
On March 3, Iulian Bădescu was detained by DNA prosecutors in the case of financing the football team Petrolul Ploiesti with funds from the local budget.
Subsequently, he was placed in custody, as decided by the Prahova Court.
A few days afterwards, Bădescu resigned from his office of mayor and from all the positions he held with the PSD.
