Retired Major General Marin Lungu, Romanian Army hero and survivor of a Nazi concentration camp, was thrown into the street with his entire family. Two novels were written about his extraordinary war actions and he was decorated with the most important distinctions for his bravery.

His story was presented Monday during the "Daily Summary" show.

General Lungu lived in a rented apartment that he had bought from the Romanian state. The apartment building was  claimed by a woman who said she was the sole heir of the former owner, using false documents, and thus leaving  the general homeless.

Lawmakers initiated a bill, whereby the general was given a home in Bucharest, but President Traian Basescu refused to promulgate the law on the grounds that it was not for the general  interest.
