President Klaus Iohannis argued Saturday that Romania's role in the context of tensions at the border of the European Union (EU) is to be "a landmark of stability in the area and wise political thinking."
"The recent visit to Moldova and Germany gave me, from two different perspectives, a more nuanced picture of the current geopolitical situation. Romania's role is to be a landmark of stability in the area and wise political thinking in the context of stress and danger at the Eastern border of the European Union, "wrote the president on his Facebook account.
The head of state said that the solutions of peace and prosperity can only arise from the meeting of East and West.
"In Chisinau, we talked about the European path the Republic of Moldova has to follow and in Berlin about the path the European Union has to walk towards countries exposed to instability such as the Republic of Moldova. Only from such a meeting of East and West solutions of peace and hope of prosperity can come up. It is a matter of political reflection that I will deepen during my visit to Kiev ", Iohannis said.
