President Klaus Iohannis states that there should be an adequate funding of the health system and a better organization, given that annually in Romania more than 80,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed and more than 50,000 deaths occur from the ruthless disease.

"Today we mark the World Cancer Day, a cruel disease that interrupts the lives of millions around the globe. At EU level, cancer is the leading cause of illness and the second cause of death, and in Romania there are over 80,000 new cases diagnosed and more than 50,000 deaths each year.
This situation must be countered primarily through adequate funding of the system and better organization. Early detection and proper treatment can help avoid death from cancer in a significant number of people, " Iohannis wrote Thursday on Facebook.
He states that Romania joins the campaign conducted by the International Union for Cancer Control, whose main goals are reducing the number of illnesses, successful treatment and improved quality of patients life.
