The chief prosecutor of DNA, Laura Codruţa Kovesi, admits that certain case files were placed under the mat in the past.
In an interview for România liberă, Kovesi says that there have been case files which the prosecutors have not instrumented for years.
The DNA Chief says that this happened because the prosecutors were overloaded or because prosecutors or investigators have prioritized in a certain way the cases to work on.
"Sure, there have been cases in the DNA that have not been worked on, but I am convinced that they have been kept unworked because the prosecutors were overloaded or because prosecutors had at the time, I know, another prioritization of cases," DNA chief prosecutor Laura Kovesi Codruţa said.
Laura Codruţa Kovesi says that currently almost 7,000 files have to be completed.
