"There is no risk to the citizens of Romania. We were careful to reach a level of natural gas storage in warehouses across the legal requirement set by the Energy Regulatory Authority. Moreover, ROMGAZ will succeed the completion of an investment in to increase the gas storage performance capacities in Urziceni. We rule out any likelihood that Romania's population be affected by a crisis, " Nicolescu said on Antena 3, during the " Income " show.
"There is a crisis we do not want, but which should not surprise us if it occurred. I’ve discussed with the European Commissioner for Energy. It is possible that a crisis may occur, but we will not be affected, " the Minister of Energy continued.
"We also have a sufficient reserve of crude oil that we can use to switch on to power plants using natural gas from crude oil. We’ve taken all measures, we are ready to cope any situation, " Nicolescu said.
However, the minister added that "unfortunately, we cannot help our neighbors too much. We can help in a small way the Republic of Moldova and perhaps we can help in some small way Hungary, where appropriate. "
