MFA reacts to the case of the humiliated Romanian in the UK..
"MFA has already taken urgent steps regarding the situation of Alecsandra Puflea the Romanian woman who has been denied accommodation at a hotel in the United Kingdom on grounds of her Romanian nationality.
MFA condemns any discrimination based on nationality, all the more so, in this case, because it violates universal principles and European rules on equal treatment.
Following the actions undertaken, it appeared that the hotel has argued its refusal to accommodate Alecsandra Puflea through the policy it has, namely not to receive Romanians.
The hotel management claims that this policy would be the result of several hotel incidents in which Romanian citizens were allegedly involved.
However, British police said that there was no distinction registered in the area on grounds of nationality in terms of crimes committed.
Alecsandra Puflea filed a complaint with the British police, from whom she received assurances that the hotel will present apologies due to this situation and that steps are being taken to change this hotel policy.
Moreover, the UK authorities have given assurances that the situation is isolated. Romanian Embassy in London has talked to Alecsandra Puflea, the Interior attaché in the mission being in contact with British police.
Foreign Affairs Ministry will insist that the British authorities make all efforts to ensure that such situations do not happen again, "the press release states.
