In Romania, over 100 international exercises are planned during 2015, said Wednesday at the North Atlantic Council meeting, Defense Minister Mircea Dusa, stressing also the progress made in reviewing and optimizing the NATO Response Force, Mediafax reports.

According to a press release by the Ministry of National defense, the North Atlantic Council meeting in the format of Defense Ministers held in Brussels on Wednesday, was devoted mainly to analyzing the status and prospects of implementation of the Action Plan for increasing the operational capacity of the Alliance under the significant change in the environmental conditions security.
"The progress registered in reviewing and optimizing the NATO Response Force is a formula that will better meet current threats," said Defense Minister Mircea Dusa. In the context of the need to continue supporting allied insurance measures, Minister Duşa stressed that in Romania are planned over 100 international exercises this year and that in this moment, Romania is home to Trident Joust exercise, "a first for both Romanian military as well as the Allied Joint Command in Naples. "
The Romanian Minister informed about the progress made at national level towards the constitution of the two allied command and control structures in Bucharest (Integration Multinational Unit of NATO forces / NFIU and Headquarters of the Multinational Southeast Division / MND SE) and appreciated the contribution of Member States and their operationalization and for the continuation of insurance measures during 2015 and ahead, as long as necessary.

Duşa also welcomed the allies ministers' decision to adopt the Package defense capabilities development support for Moldova, stating that it is "not only an investment in the security and stability of this country, but also in our own security," and that the opening of a NATO liaison Office in Chisinau should be expedited.

According to the MoD, another topic on the agenda was the new concept of gradual response plans, representing in the opinion of Minister Duşa, "an important and necessary signal of the importance given to strengthening the Alliance's collective defense". Mircea Dusa appreciated that "new tools and concepts will also depend on ally faster decision-making."

North Atlantic Council session was held during the meeting of defense ministers of NATO member states, held Wednesday and Thursday at the headquarters of the Alliance.
