The financing under the 2014-2020 Regional Operational Programme (ROP) amounts to 8.2 billion euros, 77 percent up from the 2007-2013 ROP, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Public Administration Liviu Dragnea told Agerpres on Tuesday.
"We will have several new types of investments: technology transfer centres, energy and public building efficiency, public lighting and urban mobility measures," Dragnea announced at a forum heading "European Funds 2015-2020: New financing lines, new opportunities for Romania" at the Parliament Palace.
Cities will have access to nearly three billion euros for urban development, he mentioned.
According to Dragnea, the new POR has a much simpler implementation system, using fewer documents for financing applications and granting additional scores to programmes in advanced preparation stages. Moreover, the procedural times prior to the contract signing will be shorter, namely five to eight months from the filing of a financing application.
