The top ten individuals in the group of 336 people with high net wealth of over 20 million euros, identified and verified by NAFA , achieved in 2011, 86.9 million of undeclared income, which must pay a tax of about 14 million, the authority announced Monday.

"In 2015, the fiscal verification of the first 10 people in the PFAM group were completed, which consists of 336 people, on which checks are being performed on the fiscal risks and compliance programs are applied," reads a release of the NAFA .

From the overall amount, the unreported income with unidentified source accounted for 23.77 million lei for individuals who owe an additional income tax of 3.8 million and arrears and interest of about 2.44 million lei.
The identified source revenues amounted to 63.17 million lei. For these, the inspected people have to pay 10.1 million lei additional income tax and interest and late payment penalties are being calculating.

The IRS states that they analyzed these ten people, the operations carried out by more than 480 bank accounts (100,000 transactions) submitted by credit institutions, operations carried out by individuals with over 120 companies (over 10,000 operations).

Moreover, they also processed information on patrimonial holding, the information received from over 100 local government authorities (services of local taxes).

"Most of the activities and transactions verified involve complex analyses: various investment activities, transactions with financial markets and international transactions concealed or artificial multiple cash operations, including significant values for which the information submitted was unclear, insufficient or contradictory (due to reluctance of the taxpayers to provide such information), "reads the statement.

Documentary preliminary fiscal checks (VFPD) within the program to ensure tax compliance of individuals with large fortunes, over 20 million were launched in 2013.

Last year, IRS initiated tax checks of individuals which were found doing the VFPD to meet the legal requirements on income differences between estimates based on reported personal tax situation and tax authorities.
