New recordings in the Bercea Mondial-Mircea Băsescu case have been seized by the prosecutors Pavel Abraham, the lawyer of the Bercea clan stated Saturday exclusively on the Q&A show on Antena 3.
Journalist Adina Anghelescu said that according to the information available, it was about the amount of 300.000 euros, and lawyer Abraham confirmed the information it was about 300.000 euros from Bercea which got to former president Traian Băsescu. In the recordings, Mircea Băsescu argued that the money got to Traian Băsescu.
The recording is currently being held by DNA Craiova.
Also, the clan’s defender stated that given the situation, he wanted to call the ex-president Traian Băsescu as witness in the case.
On November 26 , the Court of Appeal Constanţa decided that Mircea Băsescu, currently in remand since June 20 be tried on house arrest in the case file about the bribe he allegedly received from the family of Bercea Mondial. The same decision was taken also in the case of Marian Căpăţână, tried in the same case file
The president’s brother is accused that during the period February 20, 2011 – February 22, 2012, he allegedly received 250.000 euro from the son of Bercea Mondial, Florin Anghel, brokered by Marian Căpăţână, to intervene with the judges to order a favorable solution in the case file in which Sandu Anghel is tried for attempted murder, for having stabbed a nephew.
Investigators argue that in exchange for money, Mircea Băsescu had allegedly promised to intervene with the judges to order a lesser sentence for Bercea Mondial or even have him freed.
