From behind bars, Omar Hayssam writes on Facebook about his relationship with Traian Băsescu and about dr. Mohammad Yassin.
Yassin allegedly said that Omar Hayssam was taken out from prison with the help of Traian Băsescu. Hayssam also tells about how he funded the 2004 elections campaign of Traian Băsescu but also about the relationship of Băsescu with Mohammad Yassin, the doctor who negotiated the kidnaping of the journalist in Iraq.
Omar Hayssam says that he financed the 2004 campaign without getting any receipt.
"I have decided to donate to the Democratic Party medical equipment worth 100.000 American dollars. I purchased the equipment and I took it to the PD’s headquarters in street Modrogan no.1, sector 1, I together with Mohamed Munaf and Mohammad Yassin. There we met with George Albu, to whom I said it was a donation for the party. He thanked me and gave the truck driver an address instructing him to deliver the equipment to that address. I left, of course without any receipt, as every time ."
The producer of the show "Meeting Point", Radu Tudor, explained that the disclosures made by Hayssam were made too late and that the noose is getting tighter in Traian Băsescu’s case .
" Hayssam's revelations are late, but I think prosecutors will be interested in it. It is obvious that the noose is tightening around Traian Basescu, they will get to him eventually. Hayssam has nothing to lose now. I am not surprised by the story. Eventually, Basescu too will have to pay, like all others who were finger pointed at before. "
