Senator Sorin Roşca Stănescu was sentenced Tuesday by the Bucharest Court of Appeal (CAB), to serve two years and four months in prison in the Rompetrol case.
In the same case, the former Minister Sorin Pantiş received two years and eight months in prison, with suspension.
The court ordered the conviction of Sorin Rosca Stanescu to one year in prison for using inside information and two years in prison for setting up an organized criminal group. After the sentences merging, the hardest of them was increased by four months, which means that Liberal Senator Sorin Rosca Stanescu will serve two years and four months in prison.
Former Minister of Communications Sorin Pantiş received a sentence of two years in prison for complicity in manipulating the stock market and another two years for the establishment of a criminal organization. The penalty was increased by eight months, Pantiş will serve two years and eight months.
The Bucharest Court of Appeal decisions are final the defendants in the Rompetrol case file will be imprisoned.
