Prime Minister Victor Ponta said Wednesday that Corina Cretu’s appointment as European Commissioner for Regional Policy is a success for Romania, and a recognition that "our voice can be heard and respected. "I would like to present the position of the Romanian Government after the announcement made by the new President of the European Commission. I want to welcome from the start the fact that whole program Mr. Juncker spoke about is one of reform and change across the EU, which we certainly need.

I believe that the Government of Romania will work well with the new European Commission.

Ponta appeals to the Romanian MEPs: Let’s show we can get pass political dissensions
Prime Minister Victor Ponta wished success to Corina Cretu in the upcoming validation procedures as European Commissioner and made an appeal to all Romanian MEPs to support this move.
"I wish Ms. Cretu success in the upcoming proceedings (...) I want to make a public appeal to all Romanian MEPs, regardless of the political family to which they belong, to take into consideration that this the Romanian Commissioner we are referring to and to support this endeavor.
